ho chi minh city

this is not a kid friendly city.

my kids' happiest moments were at the hotel pool (sofitel) and bathtub.
how pathetic!
to add to the misery, it rained there almost everyday!
no star bucks.
no mcdonalds!
but it's great for eating, shopping, massage, spa and tailoring branded clothes for couples without kids!
a friend recommended Dung tailor to us and my mister got them to copy his branded work shirts and pants.
even the frenchmen go to them!
workmanship and quality are much better than what we got from bangkok!

sightseeing at dalat

there are quite a few things to do here whether with or without children.

we visited the historical train station built by the french which is still being used by locals to travel to another town.
we did a cable car ride.
if it is not raining season, you may visit the elephant falls (huge waterfalls), go for boat rides in the lake in the town, horse riding, elephant riding or roller coaster rides.
there is also a very beautiful golf course!

restaurant at ana mandara, Dalat

food is great!

unfortunately, we only went there to dine twice: first night's dinner and second day's breakfast as my mister fell sick with either stomach flu or food poisoning thereafter and we had room service till we left the place!!!!
how miserable!
we called a vietnamese doctor in and we had the greatest horror in our lives!
he couldn't speak english and we had to get the hotel staff to translate for us!
we really appreciated singapore's healthcare after the incident!
the doctor had a very old fashion torch which he attached to his head, and he examined my mister's throat with a metal equipment that looked like a pair of tongs which he used as a tongue depressor.
i was really worried that he did not sterilise it at all!!!!
without examining my mister's tummy, he assume that it is h1n1!!!!! because we came from ho hi minh!!!!
after some questioning, he said it could be. maybe it isn't.
oh gosh!
we were so thankful that we didn't get quarantined there!!!
can you imagine?

learning point:
if the doctor can't produce receipt for you to claim from insurance, write a letter on his behalf in english and get him, the patient and a witness to sign.
attach name card or contacts of doctor.
we should have researched on a reputable doctor there before traveling and not depended on the hotel staff's recommendation.

villa at ana mandara

the villa we stayed in has five rooms.

ours is a suite: with one huge bathroom, bedroom and long corridor and living room upstairs.
the interior design is modern, european and most of all homely.
the bedroom has very high ceiling.
the roof is probably built from pine wood.
within the villa at the ground flr, there is a big common dining hall and living room and a kitchen for everyone living in the villa.

spa at ana mandara

the spa is very good and very affordable!

better and cheaper than bangkok.
in fact massage and spa is better in vietnam compared to thailand according to my friends!
about 40 to 50 USD for 80 mins of massage or spa!
