haikus

last night S and my hubby cracked their brains on what to write for the church's bulletin on discipleship group sharing as the dateline was up.

my hubby decided to write a haiku since it's short and sweet.
S thought it was fun and helped me with mine.
then hubby came up with two more for the kids!
funny!

Feed on the bible,

Roast chicken and fellowship

Burp! My spirit's filled.

  • Kaif

I cook and they hear.

But still more deliciousness!

We devour the word.

happy father's day

this is what we did with lizzie for father's day.

it's really fun to paint on canvas!
my husband who studied maths and engineering throughout his schooling years really enjoyed painting!
he said he was quite deprived of arts!!!
hahaha...he actually could paint the lion and elephant very well don't you think so?

happy father's day to all daddies!
hope you are not like my husband who had to paint his own father's day gift with his daughter,
who then decided that the painting should be hung in her bedroom instead!!!

what would you do...

1) when your kids are not well enough to go out and play with other children?

2) when it is school holidays?

3) when you want to engage them with something constructive or educational so that they do not misbehave due to boredom?

besides going to God who hears my prayers, i go to cbeebies for ideas and activities.

when i need to cook and liz just refuse to play by herself or stop bullying her younger sister due to boredom, i let her

a) play a simple charlie and lola game or bob the builder game or other games for about 30 mins or

b) read and listen to a story or

c) do some colouring or crafts from make and do section

the photos show what we made on one occasion - modified from charlie's rocket from here - using some toilet paper rolls, yakult and yogurt pots, tin foil and coloured paper!

frankly speaking, i'm very impressed with the cbeebies website.
it saved me lots of money on buying computer softwares that claim to teach your children to be IT savvy, efficient in phonics and all those crap.

but a word of caution, kids learn fast, absorb like sponge and they have no self-control.

close supervision and control of time are required.

parents need to watch out too.

it's easy to let tv and computers do the baby sitting and teaching.

but once you loose control over how much computer and tv time to give your children, it's going to be a long battle to reset everything to it's proper order!

have fun!

teaching phonics

i happen to chance upon ABC learning eggs when googling about how to teach young children phonics.
lizzie tried a lesson on 'b' today and really liked it!
i thought it's pretty good too!

a 3 yr old's painting

lizzie did an incredible painting this afternoon.

her interpretation changes each time you ask her.
but her first interpretation of her painting was that it is a zoo house, sheltering the animals from the rain!
don't you think it's a great improvement from her first piece of painting which was in my earlier post?

the jellybean prayer book

Jas, a good friend of mine has started a new blog, our story.

she shared this wonderful idea of making a colourful prayer book with her son to remind him of the things we ought to pray for.
i'm so excited about making one with lizzie too! :)
to see the whole book, see here
thanks jas!

how much does it cost to make your child happy?

1. free at a foreign neighbourhood playground

2.  $2.00 a ride at a shopping mall

3. $0.20 a ride at an old neighbourhood market place

which one do you think yield the highest satisfaction?
having a $0.20 ride for 5 times of course!
